aaNdavan oru naaL kadai virithaan adhil
aayiram aayiram poruL kuvithaan
avaravar nilamaikku vilaiyaich chonnaan
avaravar thaevaikku vaangach chonnaan

One day, God opened a shop,
he stocked thousands and thousands of things in it,
depending on the status of people, he quoted the price,,
he asked them to buy based on their needs

peNgaLoa azhahai vaanga vandhaar
aaNgaLoa aasaiyai vaanga vandhaar

the women came to buy beauty
the men came to be buy desire

thalaivarhaL puhazhai vaangik koNdaar
pulavarhaL poyhaLai vaangik koNdaar

the leaders bought fame
the poets bought (creative) lies from there

kurudarhaL paarthida vizhi kaettaar
oomaihaL paesida mozhi kaettaar

the blind asked for vision to see
the dumb asked for language to communicate

uRavinar maaNdavar uyir kaettaar
oru chilar maelukku vilai kaettaar

the relatives wanted their beloved (dead) back,
a few asked the price to reach heavenly abode,

edhaiyum vaangida manidhar vandhaar
vilai ennavenRaalum avar thandhaar
idhayam enbadhai vilaiyaayth thandhu
anbai vaangida evarumillai

Humans were ready to buy anything they desired,
they were willing to give any price that was quoted,
( or can be interpreted as, god was ready to give it any price that was asked)
However, there was no one who was willing to give the heart as the price
to buy love (and affection)
